Northern Katpar LLP, a subsidiary of Tau-Ken Samruk, plans to construct a mining and processing facility at the Northern Katpar tungsten deposit located in the Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. Public hearings on the project will be held in February 2023. The plant will have an annual capacity of 1.8 million tons of ore and will produce molybdenum, copper-bismuth, and scheelite concentrate. Mining and capital work are expected to take two years, with the mine reaching its full design capacity (3 million tons of ore annually) by 2027. Chinese specialists have created a method for obtaining high-quality tungsten concentrate specifically for the Verkhne-Kairaktinskoye deposit, the second area in the assets of Northern Katpar.
