At a meeting of the government of Kazakhstan, the results of the socio-economic development of the republic for the first two months of 2023 were discussed. According to the Minister of National Economy Alibek Kuantirov, during the reporting period, only the coal industry showed a 15% decline, while other sub-sectors of the mining industry showed positive dynamics.
In general, over the two months of this year, the mining enterprises of Kazakhstan increased their production by 0.5%. The extraction of metal ores increased by 2.1%, other PI – by 12.9%, gas – by 1.1%, oil – by 0.1%.
As the minister noted, the inflow of investments in the mining industry in January-February 2023 increased by 12.2%.
In addition to the government meeting, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with the akim of the East Kazakhstan region Danial Akhmetov the other day. Akim informed the head of state that they plan to implement two investment projects in the extractive industry in the region: the modernization of the mining and processing complex “Altai” (“Kazzinc”) at the Maleevskoye deposit and the construction of a mining and processing plant in the Ulansky district.
