Plenary Session 4
19 June 2024 / 16:00 - 17:30 | Grand Ballroom

Central Asia transfering from GKZ to CRIRSCO international reporting standars - KAZAKHSTAN (KAZRC) case

The KAZRC Code was enforced through the enactment of the "On Subsoil and Subsoil Use" legislation in 2018. During this timeframe, the Geology Committee processed over 130 reports crafted in compliance with the KAZRC code, incorporating mineral resources and reserves onto the balance sheet. These reports were authored by 50 Competent Persons under PONEN. Several major subsoil entities in Kazakhstan have fully transitioned to KAZRC reporting. The count of PONEN members has surged by 1.3 times over the last 12 months, reaching 430 individuals. Following the amendments to the "On Subsoil and Subsoil Use" legislation, effective from January 1, 2024, adherence to the KAZRC Code is obligatory for all exploration licenses. However, for production contracts and licenses, its application is at the discretion of the subsoil user.
