Geological Museum opened in Pavlodar region

The new museum was created with the support of the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant, a branch of TNC Kazchrome JSC, which is part of ERG. The initiator of the project was the Pavlodar House of Geography. In a small cosy room, visitors can see around 500 exhibits – minerals, ores and rocks. Almost all of them were collected by local historians–enthusiasts, local geographers and geologists during eight expeditions this year and earlier organised by the Pavlodar House of Geography. The collection also includes five unique exhibits of unearthly origin donated to the museum by foreign partners – three meteorite fragments, comet tektites and an asteroid fragment. “During the nine years of the existence of the Pavlodar House of Geography NGO, we have collected eight large collections,” says the director of PavGeo, journalist Alexander VERVEKIN. “In 2018, the collection of books became the basis of the public geographical library. The collection of national attributes filled the ethnographic museum. The Club of young local historians “Dzhurbay“ was organised. Today we have presented the geological museum. Thanks to the help of our main sponsor, the Aksu Ferroalloy Plant, this year we managed to organise expeditions to collect materials, purchase exhibition equipment and form an exhibition. Thanks also to all those who helped us during the implementation stages of this project. Employees of “PavGeo“ made cosmetic repairs with their own hands in the room allocated to them on the second floor of the House of Investors, and many organisations and enterprises helped with samples, materials and design. “We have been watching the implementation of this project for more than six months and are delighted with the team at the Pavlodar House of Geography,” said Inna DAVYDOVA, a chief ecologist at AKSZF, at the opening of the museum. “These are actually enthusiasts who not only do what they love but also do a lot of educational work. For us, as for a large industrial enterprise, these tasks are also not alien. Kazchrome carries out many environmental initiatives. These are various eco–conferences for children, and the “Pack, ket“, and “Green School“ campaigns. All this is done in order to properly educate our young generation, to instil in them a sense of conscious attitude to the nature of their native land, to its resources. Pavlodar community members will introduce the rich exhibition at the museum to adults and young residents of the region, as well as guests of the region. In the plans for employees at the NGO “Pavlodar House of Geography“ – in the new year to organise a number of expeditions to replenish their funds and prepare for opening a paleontological museum, continuing to increase people‘s knowledge about their native land and general ecological culture.
