On March 5, 2023, one of the most significant events in the mining industry, the world forum PDAC-2023 – The world’s premier mineral exploration and mining convention, began its work in Canada.
The forum is attended by a Kazakh delegation represented by General Director of Kazakhmys Barlau Galym Nurzhanov, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sharkhan, heads and specialists of large Kazakh exploration enterprises.

The Kazakh delegation represented by the General Director of Kazakhmys Barlau Galym Nurzhanov, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Almas Aidarov, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan of Iran Sharkhan, heads and specialists of large Kazakh exploration enterprises.
PDAC is one of the most representative forums in the world for discussing the problems of the exploration sector. So, within the framework of the forum, Bekasyl Aukeshev, General Director of Qazaq Geophisics, spoke at the plenary session, presenting the possibilities of new innovative airborne geophysical technologies.
Also at the exhibition as part of PDAC-2023, the Republic of Kazakhstan presented its own National Pavilion.
“The opening of the Kazakhstan pavilion at PDAC 2023 underlined the importance of our country as a region with rich potential in the field of geology and openness to foreign investment. It also opened up new opportunities for cooperation between Canada and Kazakhstan,” said Galym Nurzhanov.
At the same time, within the framework of PDAC 2023, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Kazakhmys Barlau and Bureau Veritas on the establishment of an international geochemical laboratory in Kazakhstan.
Within the framework of cooperation, it is planned to build a new international geochemical laboratory in our country. This is the attraction to Kazakhstan of the 3rd international laboratory in connection with the growth of the exploration market both in Kazakhstan and in the CIS countries. Previously, ALS and SGS were involved.

The PDAC 2023 Forum is a major event for the mineral exploration and mining industry and includes business and investment opportunities, networking and many social events. The 2023 event will be one of the largest in its 91-year history and will feature hundreds of hours of programming such as capital markets, student and early careers, sustainability and tech programs. The event is attended by companies from 25 countries.
