Houcyne El-Idrysy is a Principal Hydrogeologist, MSc, CGeol, FGS, of SRK Consulting (UK) Ltd. Houcyne has worked on diverse and complex projects in a wide range of hydrogeological settings from permafrost to tropical environments. His expertise includes mine dewatering Feasibility Studies, support to operating mines to improve dewatering systems, and preparation of independent audits and signing off competent person reports. His project experience includes design and supervision of site investigations, estimation of water inflow into mines and optimisation of dewatering systems, integration of geotechnical and groundwater models for mine stability analysis and design of pit slope depressurisation systems, mine water management planning, mine water supply, and water balance. In the course of his professional career Houcyne managed several borehole drilling and testing programmes including liaison with contractors and clients, and assisted clients in contractor selection and project management. He has several publications in international journals and has presented at various professional conferences around the world. He speaks English, French, and Arabic fluently, and Russian to an intermediate level.
